Draining the Swamp

I hear the sucking sound

As my freedoms go down the drain.

My water fouled by frack

My parks invaded for money

Taking resources that never come back.

I hear the sucking sound

As health care is reduced to wealth care.

Lining the pockets of the already rich

While my friend lays dying.

Unable to pay.

I hear the sucking sound

As the safety nets are cut and fall

Under the weight of profit.

The money marches on

Leaving the masses behind.

I hear the sucking sound

As my hope for peace flows away.

Replaced by bully threats

Rounding up

And walling out.

I hear the sucking sound

Where I once heard America singing.

Now she bows her head in shame

Watching the Constitution

Flow down the drain.

When the draining is complete

A wasteland is left.

Surrounded by muck

And a man sloshes through

Calling it gold.
